The Versatile Rizwan Virk’s Journey From College To Film Making

Rizwan completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

He is still in the process of learning as he is currently pursuing a doctorate at Arizona State University.

In February 2002, he became the director of Technology, XML, in EMC Document Sciences and contributed his take to the company for six years until June 2008.

Then, in April 2009, he developed a new venture named Tapjoy, a mobile game and advertising company.

He was the first angel investor and one of the company’s Board members; however, he left the company within one year.

In January 2010, he co-founded another gaming company, GameView Studios Pvt. Ltd., and developed one of the top free-to-play mobile games.

It turns out he never took a break from his professional experiments until he reached his end goal.

In the fall of the same year, he became the general manager of DeNA‘s Gameview division, where he learned more about games and the professional gaming arena.

After 4 years, he was selected as a board member of Disruptor Beam Inc. During that period, he co-founded Midverse Studios, another gaming company focusing on sci-fi, Horror, and fantasy IP-based games.

Now, he is on the Board of directors of three leading companies, NorthBay Solutions, BayView Labs, and 1 Billion Tech.

In addition, he has been appointed as the Judge, speaker, and mentor of the famous business plan competition called MIT’s $100K Entrepreneurship Competition.

Multitasking has always been Riz’s forte; he has juggled roles as an entrepreneur in residence, advisor, venture partner, executive director, and research associate.
